First Holy Communion

8 June 2013

Jesus took a piece of bread, gave thanks to God, broke it, and gave it to them saying, 'This is my body which is given for you. Do this in memory of me.'
Luke 22:19

On Saturday 8th June 2013, the children in Year 3 from our school received Jesus for the first time in Holy Communion. Father John, the main celebrant, led the Mass in a prayerful and joyful way.

Family and friends joined members of the school and parish community to celebrate this joyous occasion in St Thomas More Church.

The children responded during the Mass with confidence as well as singing their hearts out, praising God.

After the children had received the Body and Blood of Jesus they went onto the sanctuary and sang beautifully the hymn 'Take eat, this is his body.'

After the blessing the children processed out of church singing the final hymn, 'I will shout to joy to Yahweh.'

The memories of this special day will live in all our hearts forever.
