World Book Day

5 March 2015

World Book Day is always celebrated with great enthusiasm here at St Thomas More School.

Staff as well as children dressed up as their favourite characters and brought in the accompanying books to share with their friends. All types of characters could be seen around school, from princesses to pirates, Elsa, Anna, and Olaf were everywhere you looked, Mary Poppins made an appearance along with Robin Hood, and Harry Potter. Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael and Donatello were here, along with other superheroes to keep us safe, and nobody knew where Wally or Wenda would pop up next!

We all gathered together for a special celebration where all of our favourite characters paraded across the stage for all to see.

Children took part in lots of enjoyable activities around school including shared reading sessions with classes coming to read books together. We wrote our own story book during the day starting with Reception, each class writing the next part of the story.

We hope that everyone takes this enjoyment and love of books into their reading at home as well as in school.
