4 December 2014
On Thursday 4th December, Year 5 were given the opportunity to visit Birmingham's Royal Ballet at the Hippodrome and explore the stories, themes and characters of the Nutcracker Ballet.
Whilst we were there we took part in a variety of workshops: the children participated in a music workshop in which they were able to look at and explore some the many instruments within the orchestra - this was led by the conductor. We also had a ballet lesson in which the children became 'snowflakes'!
The penultimate treat for the children (and the adults) was walking onto the awe inspiring stage and exploring the sets, props and costumes. The children were excited to be trying on some of the actual costumes worn during the performance!
All of the children were very inquisitive and a few have since booked tickets to see the show.
