10 to 17 June 2013
This is our faith, this is the faith of the Church, we are proud to profess it in Christ Jesus Our Lord.
Our Year of Faith Week began with our Year of Faith Workshop led by One Life Music on Monday 10th June 2013.
Riverside Productions shared with us on Tuesday 11th June, the story of David, a man of great faith who overcame Goliath when he threatened the Israelites.
On Thursday 13th and Friday the 14th of June 2013, the children in Phase 3,4 hosted tea parties to thank our families, friends and members of the parish community for their prayers and support in our Eucharistic preparation, celebration and daily practice of our faith.
It was a wonderful opportunity to share photographs and stories about how practice has changed, but faith has remained constant. We shared memories of pilgrimages and sacramental celebrations. Even Father John and Sister Susan recounted their own faith journeys.
Year 6 led the school in a Marian Prayer Service on Friday 14th June which they had written especially for this week of faith.
Our special week finished on Monday 17th June with a prayer celebration which had been planned by some members of Year 6. Children were encouraged to bring in flowers as they wanted a large colourful prayer focus. The children asked each class to make a link between their class saint and another saint. Each class took a line from the Apostles Creed and shared through music, drama, art and poetry what they thought their part in the Creed meant. We sang some of our I Believe songs during the service.
A wonderful end to a week which helped deepen our own faith.
