During Advent, the school's Advent Giving Tree was set up to provide festive gifts for the injured heroes in the armed forces, at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and these then were delivered to Kath Ryan the 'cake lady' to give to the injured soldiers.
Parents and children were asked to provide simple gifts, such as, battery operated lights, festive tissues, Christmas hats and batteries so that the heroes could decorate their wheel chairs and hospital beds.
The injured soldiers were delighted to receive their gifts. Representatives from the military and Kath came to listen to the school's choir performance at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on the 19th December 2012, who passed on the thanks from the soldiers. Kath said that "the gifts brought a great deal of joy to the lads and they had great fun decorating their chairs and beds".
The children were delighted to receive a beautiful card with hand written messages from some of the heroes.
