15/16 December 2008
This year for Key Stage One's Christmas production we performed 'Artaban'.
At the beginning of the story we are introduced to a fourth wise man, Artaban. As well as the traditional Kings: Caspar, Melchior and Balthazar, Artaban also makes his way to the stable to see the new born king. However, he is always late. On his journey Artaban meets many people who all need his help in some way. He stops to help each one and eventually arrives at the stable only to discover that Mary, Joseph and Jesus have already gone. The Kings reassure Artaban that although he has missed the baby Jesus in fact he saw him everywhere.
Year1, Year 1/2 and Year 2 performed their wonderful performance of Artaban on the evening of Monday 15th December and on the afternoon of Tuesday 16th December to a packed hall. All the pupils performed brilliantly having worked so hard to learn their lines and the songs. The children sang beautifully and were accompanied by Sister Susan playing the piano.
It was a fantastic performance with many parents, grandparents and members of the audience expressing their joy at watching and listening to the children singing and telling this Christmas story of the late wise man. It was a lovely way to start our final week in school watching the children giving us a very important message.
