20 October 2014
Monday the 20th October was a very special day for our school, especially for Year 5 children because their new classrooms were being blessed by Bishop Pargeter.
Our portacabins arrived on site on the 28th July 2014 in six pieces. At first we thought that the cabins would not get up our school drive. It was a very tight squeeze. For the next month our contractors were busy getting the classrooms ready and on the 15th September the Year 5 classes moved into their new rooms.
In the Introduction to the Mass Patrick and Amaris told us about how our school has grown since it opened in 1953. The Gospel was the Parable of the Talents which was acted out by Finley, Aiden, Jerin, Emily and Olivia. The message from the Parable is to use the gifts that God has given us and Father John talked about this in his homily; saying that we should use our talents to help others.
'While we walked up to receive Jesus in Holy Communion we sang together the hymn, 'Bread of Life.' Samantha, Charlie-Rose, Eliott and Neil lead the actions. At the end of Mass Bishop Pargeter came over and blessed our new classrooms. He read another Gospel and said a prayer which was really beautiful. Our parents came over for the blessing and we gave them biscuits and drinks. I enjoyed the Bishop blessing our classrooms because it was special for the Year 5 children and the rest of the school.' by Finley
