Harvest Mass

11 October 2017

"Celebrate the harvest festival to honour the Lord your God, be joyful in the Lord's presence." Deuteronomy 16:10-11

On Wednesday 11th October 2017 Year 5BM proudly led our Harvest Mass. At the start of the Mass, Year 5 processed into Church with their parents and holding their amazing Gardens of Eden. They made them with great effort the week before the Mass in their RE Inspire Workshop. As they brought their lovely gardens to the altar we all sang ‘Laudate Sii’ and at the end of the hymn Father John blessed the gardens, the children and their parents.

During the Bidding Prayers the children prayed for Pope Francis and asked God to help us all look after our world by following the example of St Francis so that the earth’s riches will be generously shared and used wisely.

The Response to the prayers was ‘Lord of the Harvest, we thank you.’

At the end of the Mass, Father Dominic, the Dean presented the ‘Ubi Caritas,’ Diocesan Award to Edel McLoughlin and Tim O’Toole for their many years of dedicated service to our school as governors and in the last few years, as Chair and Vice-Chair of Governors.

Kitty O’Reilly and Sister Sabina were thanked by Father John for their generosity of looking after people in need. Sister Sabina thanked the children and their parents for the food that we donated and said that it would be gratefully received by the homeless in our city. The children presented Sister Sabina with flowers to mark her very special birthday.
