25 and 26 March 2015
The children in Lower Key Stage 2 performed their Easter Production 'Jerusalem Joy' on the evening of 25th March and the morning of the 26th March to appreciative 'full houses.'
The production provided a thought provoking and fitting preparation for Easter.
Starting with Jesus' triumphant arrival in Jerusalem. Charting his righteous anger as he expelled the traders and money changers from the high temple. We witnessed the confusion of Judas as he joined with the Pharisees plot to destroy Jesus.
The solemnity of the Last Supper was beautifully portrayed as the disciples expressed the wonderful experience of feasting with Jesus; an experience soon to be shared by our wonderful Year 3 choir.
From the Upper Room to the agony in the Garden of Gethsemane, the children of Phase 3-4 took us on a journey through Jesus' passion and pain. We saw Pontius Pilates' attempt to release himself of the guilt of accusation. We heard the servant girl's revelation, and Peter's denial of his close friendship with Jesus, all beautifully performed by our talented solo singers.
Then we reached the moment of Jesus 'death. Eyes looking towards heaven, the voice of forgiveness.
Fortunately for all of us; the story doesn't end there. When Mary and Mary go to the tomb, in the words the children sang out with such enthusiasm, "He's not here, for he is risen, we are very glad to say."
We had a wonderful evening and morning performed with passion and professionalism. Well done Phase 3-4.
