May Procession

18 May 2017

The Angel Gabriel came to Mary and said, "Peace be with you! The Lord is with you and has greatly blessed you." Luke 1:28

Prayerfully, everyone assembled together in our school hall waiting for our annual May Procession to begin.

Father John warmly welcomed everyone to the service and we prayed the Hil Holy Queen and sang then sang Mary's song of praise, the 'Magnificat'. The children from Year 5 then acted out the story of Fatima in honour of this being the century year. Then Father John and the altar servers led our procession followed by the previous year's First Holy Communion class. Children from Year 6 carefully carried the statue of Our Lady in the procession to the Prayer Garden before we went to the Church.

As we were processing around the school we were praying the Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary and sang hymns to Mary. The Reception children carried their special paintings of Mary and some beautiful flowers they had prepared. We prayed the third decade of the Rosary in our Prayer Garden.

As we arrived in Church our Reception children placed their flowers and paintings of Mary around the altar. Children from Year 5 led our prayers in honour of Mary in Church and we sang the Hail Mary at the end of our prayers. Abigail had the honour of placing a crown of flowers onto Mary's head which Luke had carefully carried in the procession.

Our celebration in honour of Mary our Mother finished with Benediction and the singing of the Lourdes Hymn. We were very happy to be joined by a very good number of family members and parishioners who walked and prayed with us.
