May Procession

16 May 2014

The Angel Gabriel came to Mary and said, "Peace be with you! The Lord is with you and has greatly blessed you." Luke 1:28

Prayerfully, everyone assembled together in our school hall waiting for our annual May Procession to begin.

Father John offered a few words of welcome and Jennifer from Year 6 read our Opening Prayer. We listened to the story of the Annunciation from St Luke's Gospel, which was acted out by Harrison and Ella from Year 6 and then sang Mary's song of praise, the 'Magnificat.'

Children from Year 6 then carried a statue of Mary around the school grounds stopping at our Prayer Garden before going into the Church. During the procession we sang hymns to Mary and prayed the Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary.

Reception children carried their special paintings of Mary and some beautiful flowers. Year three children led our prayers in honour of Mary in Church. We sang the Hail Mary at the end of our prayers and the Year 3 children prayed the Hail Mary in French. Christie had the honour of placing a crown of flowers onto Mary's head which Connor had carefully carried in procession.

Our celebration in honour of Mary our Mother finished with Benediction and the singing of the Lourdes Hymn.

We were joined by a good number of family members and parishioners who walked and prayed with us.
