Once again we entered the NEC Gardener’s World Competition for Schools.
This year the theme was to design a ‘Recipe in a Wheelbarrow!’ We chose Spicy Tomato Soup.
The children grew many tomato plants in their classrooms and they also grew basil, chives, onions, peppers and edible flowers. The children had to care for their plants and then a group of children planted up the wheelbarrow. It was displayed on the hill at Gardener’s world – there were 35 entries and they were all brilliant!
Mrs Shakespeare attended the show and heard so many positive comments about our entry and we also received lots of votes from members of the public, in the open judging. We were told how brilliant our entry was and the organisers are keen for us to take part next year as the judging was so very close!
Well done to all the children who helped make this regular event such a success and our final entry was fabulous! We can now display the wheelbarrow in the school garden.
We have many vegetables growing well, herbs and flowers. Our Gardeners Club, which is open to all – are caring for the garden every day.
