Resurrection Rock

7 and 8 April 2014

The children in Lower Key Stage 2 performed their Easter Production 'Resurrection Rock' on the evening of 7th April to a 'full house' and again on the afternoon of the 8th to parents and visitors of the school.

'Resurrection Rock' tells the Easter story. It starts with Jesus and His disciples entering Jerusalem on Palm Sunday and the Chief Priests and Pharisees plotting to end Jesus' growing popularity. It followed the story through the Last Supper onto Judas betraying Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus' conviction and crucifixion and finally Jesus rising again on Easter Sunday.

The play followed Jesus and some of the key characters from the story including Peter, Judas and Caiaphas (Chief Priest) and explained some of the reasons for their choices and behaviour.

When following the main character, Jesus, we saw how he struggled knowing his fate but continued with God's help. Peter, the Rock, was shown as a disciple who always considered himself a strong follower and outspoken believer in Jesus but he had a moment of weakness and denied Jesus three times following Jesus' arrest.

The children all acted and sang beautifully, some memorable songs being, 'My Soul is Sad' and 'Resurrection Rock'. They all worked very hard and made the production a great success that was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
