St Thomas More Day

22 June 2016

Our school celebrated St Thomas More Day 2016 with great enthusiasm.

To start the day we all attended the whole school Mass in church. Some children were altar servers whilst others acted out the Echo Story about St Thomas More. Other children enhanced the Mass by singing beautifully.

After Mass we had a lovely surprise, as we walked back through the studio Rose gave us all an ice lolly.

Out to break for a while before having the pleasure of seeing the most spectacular magic show. We watched in awe as Magical Mayhem took place right before our eyes. With curious stares and gasps of amazement, £10.00 notes vanished from the willing volunteers who took part in the trick.

After lunch we learned more about St Thomas More by watching a presentation about his life. This helped us to write a biographical account of the life of St Thomas More to show that we understood this faith-filled story. We were able to link the story with our own lives, showing that we too can be as committed and dedicated to our faith. Some children linked to attributes of St Thomas More with our Values and Virtues; for example it was noted that Thomas was 'Learned and Wise' also that he was 'Faith-filled and Hopeful' and 'Truthful and Discerning'.

The day concluded with an assembly, which linked all of the tricks witness during the day, linked to our faith. When life is hard, we can turn to God; when life tears us apart, remember our Lord; when we are crushed, God fills us with love.

We all had a great day. Thank you to everyone who made the day so special for us.
