St Thomas More School 'Remembers'

November 2010

In the week leading up to Remembrance Sunday the children were involved in a number of events to pray for the men and women in our armed forces.

On the eleventh hour, on the eleventh day of November the whole school stopped for a Prayer Service which ended with the two minute silence to remember those who had lost their lives in active service.

The children led the readings, prayers and the singing at a special Mass in Church on Saturday 13th November 2010. Many of our families came to pray with us.

'We come together today to remember the men and women who died in the wars so we can live in peace. We ask God to show us how we can spread peace in our own country, in our school, in our homes, and in ourselves.'

Special Remembrance Prayer Booklets were made and sent to the Star and Garter Nursing Home in Solihull, Hedley Court and the Military Ward in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

The children in Years 3 and 4 collected some 'goodies' which were shared in the QE following their Remembrance Service.
