‘Jesus went out carrying his cross and came to the place of the skull called Golgotha.’ John 19:17
During Lent Year 5 learnt about the Stations of the Cross; a very significant way tradition in the Catholic Church that teaches us about Jesus’ journey and struggle when he was condemned to death, as well as his final and ultimate sacrifice.
Pupils worked hard in small groups to research, plan and reflect on their station before creating their own artwork and prayers to represent their station.
It was a very prayerful and reverent occasion which allowed the children to further develop their understanding of the Stations, they were able to empathise with the thoughts and feelings of all those involved; this enabled them to deepen their faith.
Parents commented that pupils were respectful and that the readings, prayers, drama and music were performed in a prayerful way. A lovely way to prepare for the start of Holy Week.
