Walk of Witness

24 March 2016

"Jesus went out carrying his cross and came to Golgotha. There they crucified him."

Our walk of witness organised by the Year 6 Catholic Life Group began in the school hall where Fr John blessed our crosses, many were home made, some belonging to other members of our families; all of them special to us.

Following the reading from St Mark's Gospel about Jesus taking up His Cross we were invited to take up our cross and follow in His footsteps.

As walked in procession from school to St Giles' Church we prayed the sorrowful mysteries of the rosary and sang appropriate hymns. At St Giles' Church Year 5 prayed the first, sixth and twelfth Stations of the Cross they had written themselves. Our walk brought us back to St Thomas More Church where Year 6 led us in prayer.

We all came together in the school hall to watch the Passion and Death of our Lord Jesus Christ remembering that Jesus died on the cross for us because he loves us so much.

We then placed our crosses on the hall floor to form one large cross. Although we are many, we become one, united through the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Thank you to members of staff and parents who were able to help chaperone the children safely to St Giles and back.
