"Jesus went out carrying his cross and came to Golgotha. There they crucified him."
Our walk of witness organised by the Year 6 Catholic Life Group began in the school hall where Fr John blessed our crosses, many were home made, some belonging to other members of our families; all of them special to us.
Following the reading from St Mark's Gospel about Jesus taking up His Cross we were invited to take up our cross and follow in His footsteps.
We walked in procession from school to St Thomas More Church in silence.
We prayed the sorrowful mysteries of the rosary and sang appropriate hymns. Year 5 prayed and acted out, the first, sixth and twelfth Stations of the Cross they had written themselves. At the end of the sorrowful mysteries Year 6 led us in Morning Prayer. Our service of witness was well supported by our parents and parishioners.
A reflective end of our Lenten journey leading us onto the Paschal Triduum.
