Wildlife Planting at Heartlands Hospital

11 July 2014

Year 4 are involved in a project to create a Wildlife area at Heartlands Hospital.

We were lucky enough to have a visit from Scott Hackett (Senior Consultant Nurse) and two fellow members of staff from the hospital. Scott was full of interesting information about which plants attract wildlife and the children had great fun finding wildlife and plants in our school grounds.

Eight children from Key Stage 2 were then invited back to the hospital to plant the chosen area. Our school donated four trees for their area. The children then spent two hours investigating wildlife plants and learning about which flowers attract certain insects. We are looking forward to a follow up visit in the Autumn term.
