1 to 5 March 2010
From the 1st to 5th March our school celebrated Book Week hosting a week long Book Fair where children from Reception to Year 6 could browse a range of books and peruse and purchase work by well known children's authors.
On Wednesday 3rd March we welcomed local writer R. J. Ellory to our school who spoke to Year 5 and Year 6 about the role of an author and answered lots of questions from very interested pupils! As evening closed in, a parade of children in pyjamas, slippers, dressings gowns and teddies entered the gates of our school for 'Bedtime Stories'. What a lovely evening! Even the teachers taking part found it difficult not to get a little sleepy, especially after hot chocolate with marshmallows and cookies provided by the PTA.
However, rest was not to be indulged as World book Day was just around the corner and on Thursday style and glamour became par for the course as St Thomas More School turned into a colourful carnival of book characters. Children took part in book activities during classes and during World Book Day Assembly there were prizes for the best dressed characters in school.
Finally a big 'Thank You' to parents, teachers and PTA who supported all these events so generously.
