30 April 2015
"For me being a writer is a dream come true."
On Thursday 30th April 2015 that dream came true for Year 3-4 when the author Eamonn Reilly came to visit and inspire us.
The session was entirely interactive. The children worked in small groups and wrote in response to Eamonn's prompts. "Think of two characters, about your age. What are their names? Describe their personal interests."
Then a story was scaffolded. The children were taken on holiday... their pet dog escaped. Each group's imagination soared as they chatted and wrote. Eamonn commented upon how well they cooperated and engaged with one another to produce amazingly individual stories which they could not wait to share. We can now take these plans, revise, refine and present.
Working with an author provided real stimulation for authors of the future in Year3-4.
