Year 4 RE Inspire Workshop

24 November 2015

"A shoot shall come out of the stock of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots." Isaiah 11:1

The children in Year 4 began to get into the spirit of Advent on Tuesday as we were joined by members of our family and friends for our RE Inspire Workshop.

Our workshop began with a prayer that the children had written; this was a prayer of thanks, thanking God for the gifts that we have been given and for bringing us all together on this special day.

Thank you to Sister Susan who helped us sing the Jesse Tree song. This was followed by an introduction to the Jesse Tree, which was also presented by the children. The Jesse Tree symbolises that Jesse was the father of King David. We made ornaments to hang from the Jesse Tree, these represent the people, prophesies, and events leading up to the birth of Jesus. Each ornament tells the story of God in the Old Testament, connecting the Advent season with the faithfulness of God across many generations of Jesus' ancestors.

We were joined by Tim Hughes, Diocesan RE Inspector who had spent the day in our school.

Our wonderful workshop ended and lots of glitter everywhere and our Final Prayer. Thank you to everyone who came and made our day so very special.
