"The Royal line of David is like a tree that has been cut down, but just as new branches sprout from a stump, so a new King will arise from among David's descendants."
Year 4 have enjoyed creating Jesse Trees in our RE Inspire Workshop. In class we have learnt the stories of Jesus' ancestors and how a Jesse Tree represents the lineage of Jesus.
We used cardboard to draw and cut out a tree then covered this with brown felt. We added leaves and other decorations such as glitter. We then cut out and threaded Jesse Tree symbols to hang on the branches of our trees.
We enjoyed learning the story of King David. We identified similarities between David's Kingship and that of Jesus: David was a poor shepherd boy who was anointed as King in the town of Bethlehem; Jesus was born in Bethlehem to a poor family and as Christ the King he became our shepherd.
We have really enjoyed sharing our RE work with our parents and families. They really enjoyed working with us too.
