8 December 2009
On 8th December 2009 Year 4 invited members of their family in to support them with their Advent work in RE.
In the RE Curriculum we need to know the stories of the ancestors of Jesus and be able to identify symbols for the characters of the Jesse Tree. We were decided to make our own Jesse Trees. We spent an afternoon making our tree structure from mod roc and learning about the different features of a Jesse Tree.
The Jesse Tree shows Jesus' family tree and all the people who were waiting for him to come just as we were waiting and preparing during the Season of Advent.
We learnt about Jesus' ancestors and read their stories from the Bible, e.g. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Ruth and David.
When our parents and members of our families came in we created branches for our tree and little individual symbols to represent each ancestor of Jesus. We decorated each symbol and made the symbol for Jesse special by adding a jewel.
We all had a lovely morning and our parents enjoyed being part of our RE Workshop.
