Each week during this term, a group of Year 4 pupils have walked to Brays School to participate in a joint project, that has offered the joy of learning and interacting with others in our local community. So, alongside all of the curriculum enrichment that has been offered through this, the social interaction has been phenomenal.
From Theremins to Sound Beams and Bongos to Base Drums, Year 4 have explored the science of sound and musical expression, alongside pupils from Brays School.
The children have learned how to be thereminist by playing an electronic musical instrument controlled without physical contact. They have discovered how audible sound from modulated ultrasound without using an active receiver can be made via the sound beam system. They have explored Pitch and Volume (often rather loud) whilst learning to communicate with others who have alternative communication methods. It didn't take long for everyone to get chatting or signing.
We have all had a wonderful time, thank you to everyone who helped with supervision and organisation. A huge thank you to Mr Tonge who organised the Brays side of the Project and thank you to Sister Susan and Mrs Edgerton for allowing the Project to take place.
