Year 5 visited the Black Country Museum to experience what working life and living conditions were really like in Victorian Britain.
Shocked and surprised at the cramped living conditions, they were also astounded at the lack of facilities that are taken for granted today, such as running water and central heating.
After visiting the dark and scary coal mine they began to understand how difficult working conditions were for many children their own age at the time.
After the visit they were more than happy to return to their usual school life after their Victorian experience.
