Year 6 Pupils visited St Chad's Cathedral as part of their Confirmation Sacramental Preparation Programme.
During a guided tour of the Gothic Cathedral designed by renowned architect, Pugin, the children enjoyed learning about the history of the building, exploring its interior and listening to and viewing the story of St Chad through stained glass windows in St Edward's Chapel.
This year, the pupils were extremely fortunate that our visit coincided with the bicentenary celebrations exhibition of Pugin. This meant that the children had access in the crypt to view exhibits not usually on display to the public. This was a real highlight of the visit for many of the pupils.
Following our guided tour, we joined in the celebration of Mass. Some of us had the opportunity to take part in the Offertory Procession and our Altar Servers had the honour of serving during Mass in the Cathedral.
Following our visit to St Chad's, we made our own stained glass windows depicting our Confirmation Saints.
