Year of Faith Celebration

11 October 2012

Our Holy Father, Pope Benedict has asked us to mark the Opening of the Year of Faith in a special way.

Each class had their own special prayer time in the morning where we used the Diocesan PowerPoint to focus on the importance of this year.

In the afternoon the whole school went over to Church for a celebration of our faith. The children who made their First Holy Communion this June processed into Church with Father John as a witness to their Faith. Children representing People of Faith from the Bible, the theme of our assemblies this term joined the Procession. We focused on the faith of these important people and then made our own act of faith as we said together the Apostles' Creed.

Father John then presented a lit Baptismal Candle to a child from each of our classes and blessed us with Holy Water as a reminder of when we first received the gift of faith in our Baptism.

Our celebration finished with Benediction to help us to come closer to Jesus in this Year of Faith.
