My twin brother and I attended St Thomas More School from 1950 - 1956 and I remember Mr Corrigan and Miss Croake. We became altar boys when our mother told us that we must put our hands up when Miss Croake asked for volunteers to train in the church. We did this and looked round to see that we were the only ones with our hands up. Next thing we were sent to see Fr Cullinan and started our training as alter boys - learning latin responses etc and helping with the mass etc. Apart from that great memories and VG teachers.

Hello I attended St Thomas More's school from 1959 - 1965. I have very fond memories the education was second to none. Miss Croake was my form teacher for the latter 2 years she was amazing. I would like to know when the school was built. And any news about former teachers Mr Corrigan, Mrs Rix, Miss Kelly, Mrs Waters, to name a few. Many Thanks.

Dear Sister (Music Teacher) Thank you and more especially the choir for singing Happy Birthday to Eugene yesterday. You had more than enough to worry about with the demanding schedule of Christmas carols and entertaining a full house at the Town Hall luncheon. Taking the time out for someone's birthday is a big ask but it made our day and Christmas. Good luck to the kids for the future and Merry Christmas. Tom & Eileen.

I went to lunch today at the Town Hall in Birmingham and was absolutely delighted to hear the choir from your school singing beautiful Christmas songs. Their singing was brilliant with some really lovely voices and they behaved perfectly. Please thank them very much because they made the atmosphere at the meal just right to remind us all about the meaning of this time of year. Thank you also for the message of Jesus love and the need to prepare for the second coming. God bless all the children and staff who had obviously worked so hard.

The children are so fortunate to have such a wide range of exciting, varied activities throughout the year. The whole school participation in World Book Week looks so impressive involving all of the children and staff together with an enthusiastic input from the parents and PTA- all raising funds for charity. The school should be so proud of all the many events provided for all of the children throughout the whole year, either as whole school events or within year group phases, like the lively Tudor Day activities for the Years 3 and 4 children. It would be hard to find a more stimulating range of activities for all of the children on any other school website.

I hope you don't mind me pointing out a small detail in your section on Thomas More, namely, that the first name of his mother was not Isabel, but Agnes. Her surname was Graunger. Thomas More's father was Sir John More. St. Thomas More was, on my mother's side, my 14x great grandfather. A book I have written 'The Family and Descendants of St Thomas More' was published this week by 'Gracewing'. Best wishes to you all.

Congratulations on such an interesting informative website. I was able to find out everything I wanted to know about the school from this one website. I was a pupil at the scool myself many years ago and it's nice to know (from the pupils' comments) that they are pleased to attend what still seems to be a good happy school.

It is always a great pleasure to see active schools in our community and you have certainly proved you are ACTIVE. Gino and the icecream bike looked like a real hit with everyone and I think that Malcolm Tipping did a great job turning a company prop into a real life ice cream business. The photographs are great and I am sure that over the next school year this site will become a great hit within the school community. Well done.

Wow! What a fantastic website you have. It is full of information and now I know all about your school. I am the new Headteacher at St. Andrew's and on Friday Sister Susan and Mr Tipping came to visit me to welcome me to the parish. I was delighted to see them and would like to say a big 'thank you' for the flowers and the cards. I will continue to look at your website and pass the details on to the teachers and children of St. Andrew's.
