"Sport Leaders at St Thomas More play a pivotal role in not only supporting our PE coordinator, Mr Poole, but they are also instrumental in building and leading a positive environment. They take pride and ownership in actively promoting both Physical and Mental health and fitness. Whilst at the same time encouraging those who may never have considered physical activity before, as a fun and engaging way of developing the necessary character and resilience to succeed in all aspects of their learning.

They are at the heart of our Sport Premium planning and assessment and hold consultations with their peers to determine opportunities for new equipment and clubs that could take place during lunchtimes and after school. Recently they have supported Mr Poole in reviewing the current PE provision and curriculum, which has lead to a new scheme of work being purchased and implemented. 

At St Thomas More we are extremely proud of the fact that our children view the role of a Sports Leader as very prestigious and go above and beyond to give up their own free time to inspire their peers to lead an active and healthy lifestyle, where fairness and respect is at the centre of everything they do."
